My 6 year old tried dex earlier this year. He had been on Cortef since birth. I loved that we only had to give the dex once a day, but he gained a lot of weight while on it (almost 10 pounds in 3 months). We recently switched back to Cortef and he hasn’t gained any weight in 2 months.

In fairness to dex, we have struggled with weight problems for years. He is incredibly active and eats pretty healthy, but his portions are probably too big and he seems to metabolize it differently than other kids his age. He only seems to do well on circadian rythmn dosing - this is what we went back to. He is once again on a 4x/day med schedule. Kind of a pain, but his levels, weight and height have all been good on circadian dosing of Cortef.
