aimeeIt makes me mad that people get conditions and leave the doctor feeling like life sucks and tell your beautiful daughter that it doesn’t. One in four people have HSV2 only 1 in 60 actually know. Out of the % that have herpes it’s something like only 20% actually have that outbreaks and the rest pass it on without even knowing. A man can have herpes inside the shaft and not even know it without blood testing. HSV1 Oral Herpes cold sores affects something like 80% of the population recieved in childhood from being kissed by a relative that even with no outbreak may still pass it along. The oral herpes can cause other health problems with the eyes. Herpes loves stress and whatever your daughter can do in developing a coping plan to limit, reduce stress for her then it may help and really concerntrating on a better diet also and an exercise program. There are support groups out there and i hope she got tested for more than herpes because HIV is male and female -plus every economic and ethnic group. I think what you brought up by posting is extremely important in relation to CAH because this is a birth defect with the focus on the genitals and the parents and I love you all my internet parents but the first thing many of you and I know my own must of thought this to is will my child be able to get pregnant and the child picks up on this message and I’m not saying this is your daughter Dawn, me, or anyone else OR any other parent but there is a focus on the surgery or even without the surgery in that become pregnant like women that don’t have CAH and it makes me furious that those researchers put out there in a general statement CAH girls aren’t interested in sex or starting familes where in reality it’s OK Had these surgeries, all these genital exams and hey lets put all that to use or someone without surgeries but always had their bloodtests results gone over and over making them wantto prove being a female. If CAH was seen as more an adrenal condition first and foremost and not will my child be able to have children and this goes for the boys and girls then this might not be an issue. CAH and from one that I talked with off the Internet my parents weren’t madthat I had a child at a young age but just glad that I could have one.
Condoms do help to an extent but the STD rate went up also.
Dawn the part in bold is really for your daughter and the rest is for the few that writing about this might help in the future. If I was an Edno Doctor or nurse I would be bringing this stuff up like crazy to the patients. They can go on and on about us all being depressed or whatever but don’t address the behavoirs that might be even more risky to someone that is in that state or low self esteem because of the medical exams or because ofthe symtoms and this goes forthe boys also. Anyone can get an STD except maybe a nun but I believe that because of what we go through because of CAH we have a greater risk and condoms aren’t a garantee. That is my rant and maybe to real for ya fuzy bunny types but I really mean well. Plus, some STD’S may be spread from the finger tips so if your child hasto endure gential exams make sure the doctors and residents are always wearing gloves.
