Infant Vaccine query to Julia S. and others
May. 2nd, 2005   6:27pm

Hi,

We finally found a pediatrician willing to work on an individualized schedule for our son, who is five months old, on prednisolone and flurinef, and is SWCAH. We wanted to wait until he is six months before starting to vaccinate, and we want to do it separately and one month at least in between so his immune system is not overwhelmed.

The problem: I was told by the ped. that DTap cannot be administered separately. Is this true? Julia, you were able to find monovalent, thimerosol-free vaccines for your daughter.  Do you have the info still on the company that makes it? The ped. is willing to work with us if we can order the DTap separately. Please email me if you can.

Another question for those who may be reading this. Were there specific vaccines that your CAH infant/child reacted to and which ones? (I’m thinking of chicken pox, for instance). I have read that children taking steroids like prednisolone may be more susceptible to vaccines, and illnesses like measles, mumps, chicken pox.

Any help/advice would be much appreciated!

Thank you very much, Margaret
