DebMy 5 year old son was recently hospitalized with the rotavirus.
He started throwing up about 8:30 in the morning!
We got him to keep his extra meds down until evening came around!
I gave him an injection of solu-cortef. Usually that perks him up!
This time it didn’t. We ended up in the emergency room. He was dehydrated.
He couldn’t keep his night meds down he got another injection in the ER.
HE continued to throw up for a total of 2 days but not as often! Then later that evening he had a fever of 103.9. He ended up with another injection of solu-cortef for a total of 3 in 2 days. The the next day he had terrible diaerrha. It took him a good week to start to feel better. They kept him four nights! The local hospital did call the Endo to report what was going on. We were doing everything right!
My sons doctor gave the hosptial orders that we were in complete control of his medicine while he was in the hospital.
My son was such a trooper! The nurses spoiled him!
They made his stay a postive experience! He knows they made him feel better!
When your CAH child is sick! Go with your gut. Take him to the hospital!
