re: When did you start giving the responsibilty of taking meds. to your child?

My daughter is also 8 and has always been very "grown up" for her age.  She is very good at reminding us and the school about her tablets.  She has her meds at 6.30am and for some reason, always tends to automatically wake up around that time, even if she is slightly late at going to bed.  It must be her body clock!  We have a days of the week pill box which I fill up for the week just for the morning dose and put it by my bed table.  She comes in every morning and automatically takes her pills for that morning (the day is already labelled on the box but I always open the correct lid the night before so that she’s not struggling to open it and also, she knows which one to take by seeing the open lid).  I am always aware that she is there, even in my semi-conscious state.  This has worked great for the past year now.  She then carries on playing/watching tv without all of us having to get up so early (lazy of us, I know!  But that’s just the weekends).  I have never had any problems with this morning dosage.

She does sometimes wear a watch to school with an alarm, but she tends to know when to take her pm pills because it’s around the time they come into class after lunch recess.

I hope this helps!
