Gretchen, we have had several of those years in the past.  I usually schedule a meeting with all of KRistin’s teachers and her guidance counselor and explain to them that she typically misses more school than the others and that she is very good about making up her missed work and ask their understanding and cooperation at the beginning of the school year.  I have gone to THe MAGIC Foundation’s website for info that I can pass on to them (leaving out the genital stuff) .  What I do is copy and paste the info they need to have and then put a note that this info comes from their website.  I make sure every teacher has a copy.   I also make them aware that if she says she is sick and needs to go to the clinic they must let her go.  She will notfake being sick to get out of class.  Then I ask if they have any questions.  Usually they don’t - or only one or two and all are happy to cooperate.  I forgot to mention that I include the clinic person or school nurse as well.   You seem to be having a bigger problem than we do, but I hope this helps.
