When my grandson was born they did not have the newborn screening for CAH  yet. (He is now 8 yrs old & has SWCAH) They brought him into the room and we thought great everything is ok. They took him to check everything and came back saying something was not quite right but.... they sent him home. After about 3 days at home he started looking jaundice is color, barely ate and was very large down there. I changed him diaper and thought is this normal. I remember taking him to the ER. They started running all kinds of test. They had called on a ped. endo that had just moved to Indiana. She read the reports and diagnosed him with CAH. To this day (she is still his endo) does not know how he made it. Started  him on pure sodium chloride and liquid cortef. TOdy he takes florinef and cortef.
