My 5 year old daughter is very intelligent.  Her preschool teacher thinks she should start straight into first grade.  We decided not to.  I don’t want to hurry her with sitting still etc. and have her graduate HS early.  I prefer she stays at home the full 18 years to help with meds and maturity etc!  We can challenge her at home as we have been doing if she is not getting it at school.  I am a teacher and have many resources available to me.  She has been reading for a year and her math skills are phenomenal.
