Unfortunately I’m a senior when it comes to dealing with (sever) eczema and allergies.  I would have an easier time making up a list of what my children can eat, rather than listing everything they are allergic to.
Following are a few points and very affective tips I would like to share from personal experience.
#1 Elidel and Protopic have been proved to hold a risk for cancer.
#2 It is only natural that stress dosing with STEROIDS would make a positive difference.
#3 Heavy moisturizers like Vaseline is like plastic over the skin and blocks good skin airflow.  It is very preferable to use mild moisturizing lotions.  I personally had very good experience with Vanicream.

After experimenting with, well, what not, I found the following technique for applying creams and lotions to be extremely affective:
*Rather than smearing, deeply massage lotion into skin, rubbing in a straight downward motion, not up and down.
*Leave child undressed for 15 minutes, so that the lotion has time to seep into body.
*Use Calamine lotion (sparingly) to prevent itching.
*Bathe child as often as possible, in water mixed with baking soda, letting him soak for half an hour.  Restrain from using detergent.  Baking soda is a good enough cleanser.
*When taking the child out of the bathtub, DO NOT WRAP IN TOWEL.  Rub lotion into skin (like mentioned above) when body is still soaking wet.  This helps retain allot of moisture.  The morning after a bath I see the most improvement.

*It is very beneficial that the clothing that touches the skin should be 100% cotton.
*Wash laundry in mild perfume free detergent.
*Child’s nails should always be cut.
*Keep him fully dressed, so he doesn’t readily have excess to scratch his skin.

I am not going to "boast" that if there was a competition running for who had the worst allergic, eczema prone children in the group, I would no doubt have won the contest in a wink.  But I can clearly state that although my children’s skin is still very far from perfect, and what is best control for me is probably still worse than the worst any of you had with your children, I can positively state that coming up with this technique has become a lifesaver.  Never before where my children’s eczema so well controlled.  As a matter of fact I barely apply steroids and anything extreme these days.
Please, I urge you try it for yourself and not to just dismiss it as another person’s advice.  I would love to hear feedback if it helped you.  Perhaps I’ll start charging on ebay the next time i share this information:)
