ValerieDMy 13 yr old, SW-CAH son has decided that he would like to join the Golf team in the fall. He has never been part of a school sport team before, so I have never been put into the position of finding out what the scoop was for kids with health issues and the coverage of care after school. I spoke with the principal and the school nurse yesterday and found out that there is absolutely no coverage and that they are not responsible for him after school hours. They informed me that other children whom require a watchful eye and partcipate in after school sports teams or projects have parents that are right there with the child the whole time. But realistically, what 13 yr old is going to want their mother following them for 9 or 18 holes on a golf course? They also told me that ALL of the coaches for the middle school are all voluntary - none are paid positions - and therefore they most likely would not agree to being responsible, as far as the injection or additional meds were concerned. I guess if I or my husband golfed - which neither of us do - we could volunteer to coach, but that is not going to happen either! So, I am curious as to how all of you other Moms handle this and are your children covered by your school systems or do you have any advise for me? Thanks--
