PCOS

In March when I went to my endocrinologist I noticed the nurse wrote PCOS with a question mark beside it on my chart.  This May when I went back another nurse wrote it without a question mark beside it.  Can it be determined if a person has PCOS without testing for it?  If so how would the doctor be able to tell?  I remember him telling me a few years ago that it sometimes happened with CAH but he never mentioned it again.  I’m wondering if the nurse this time just forgot to put the question mark.  Your thoughts on the matter would be greatly appreciated.
