I have a 15 year old SWCAH son (Josh).  He also plays after school sports and has done well.  We did provide him with a cell phone and so far he has not had to use it for the reason we got it.  Josh is at the age now that he knows when he is not feeling well and will rest or take an extra dose when needed.  We are not able to be at every practice or game so we have to trust that things will be fine!  The coach is well aware of his condition and the the shot kit just in case 911 needs to be called.  The coach also has our numbers.  Maybe you should talk to the coach and see what he has to say about this.  Most coaches are willing to go the extra mile for a medical condition, just so the child can play!!
