re: Question for Adults w/CAH

I was diagnosed at 3 weeks of age by a Dr Amid Habib. I don’t know if he’s still practicing medicine.

As far as medicines changing, when I was your sons age Dr Habib changed me from Hydrocortisone to Decadron. I’m now 27 and found out last Sat. that the manufacturer, Merck is no longer making Decadron. I went to my endocrinologist today and was given a prescription for Prednisone. I haven’t tried it yet I’m looking on-line to see about the drug. Next time you talk to your sons Endocrinologist ask him if Dexamethasone(the generic for Decadron) will work for your son.

Not to worry you but, about 3-4 years ago I was diagnosed with depression. I went and spoke to my PCP and was put on Celexa and that really does seem to help. Unfortunately for you he’s going to be going through all kinds of changes; puberty, identity, unfortunately for him no one will understand what it is he’s going through. I would suggest supporting him in any kind of hobby he may have. I like to put model cars together (toy r us, level 2 models)

I hope some of this will help, any other questions email me directly at csmith54@atlas.valenciacc.edu

Good Luck
