i dont remember when i was diagnosed, but it was withtint he first 2 years of my life.  well...i was put on a research grant as a child, i took buserilion (sp?), cortef, and florinef.  when i hit the teen years i put, like chris, on decadron and later dexamethasone.  i am now taking prednisone also, in place of the dex.  my teen years were a roller coaster ride of depression and happiness.  not much of a middle ground you know?  i buried myself in music and video games.  growing up i raced bmx, and now im into weight lifting a lot, and general exercise.  so i have, and will always have soemthing to keep me occupied, and something to burn off excess energy, positive or negative.  so far id say my hobbbies, like the other swho have responded, were hobbies of focus.   you get so involved in what you are doing, become so narrow sighted, sometimes its a great escape and a good way to get yourself back on track.  so i too would suggest some hobbies, and encourage them as much as you can.  he will be looking for himself, and going through the other normal teen issues as well.  but,  my folks also gave me space to exlpore a little.  every weekend i was traveling with friends to new york, maine, pennsylvania, everywhere,  or right on my back porch to see bands or to play out with my band.  it was a great way to spend my time, and i met a ton of different people.  at any rate.  i guess the best thing to do is let him be who he is, and dont discourage him from trying things that are safe, back him up.  do what  im sure you are aready doing (as i can see since you psoted here that you are very caring) and support him.  as long as he is taking his meds, is safe and smart, he will be fine.
