We went from medicaid to private insurance for our 2 ssw cah girls 3 years ago.  There were no problems.  The only thing we had to provide was a "continuation of benefits" which means there was no lapse in time where they had no insurance.  Each state has it’s own health insurance program for families who fall somewhere in the "middle"- can’t get medicaid but don’t have private insurance.  I would call your local health dept. and ask them all the questions you have!  Good luck and if you have anymore questions, let me know!
