Lisa V.I have always been up front about Ashley’s SWCAH at an interview. I wouldn’t want to get the job and then there be an emergency and then inform them. I simply say that one of my kids has enzyme deficiency that is controlled with medication. I do not offer a definition of CAH but I do explain that when she gets sick it can become a trip to the ER and that possible I would miss work. In the ten years since Ashley was born I have worked at 3 jobs. The first said they appreciated me telling them up front about Ashley. She was a newborn and I missed a lot of work in the beginning. But I stayed there for 3 years until the business closed its doors. The second job I was at for 3 years and I quit there because the business was losing money and I did not want to be out of a job. And now I work for a corporation that is family oriented and even they said they appreciated me talking about Ashley at the interview.
I just believe that you should be up front about certain things at interviews. A child having a life threatening condition is one of them.
