Kimberly1. We have both our sons blood drawn at 2:00 pm right before their mid-day dose.
2. Always been the same time for the last 5 1/2 years for my older son.
3. We always give them there 7:00am dose and do not fast. We do wait to give them their 2:00pm dose til right after the draw.
As for a hysterical child elevating their levels...I always make mention to our Endo that my boys (much more so my older son) gets absolutely hysterical right before the draw. She has always taken this into consideration when reading his results.
With regard to stress dosing or if either of my sons have been sick, we wait til about two weeks post illness to have a blood draw. It can get very tricky if you are having a rough winter. Ugh, last Winter we had this problem last year (allergies were killing us). I just had to wait it out until I knew he was free and clear to get an accurate reading.
Oh and as to our dosing schedule. For my older son we give the same larger dose split exactly in half in the am and pm and the smaller dose in the mid-day. For example ~ 4 mg in the am and pm and 3 mg mid day. For my 2 year old we are giving him 3.5 mg 3x’s per day. Even though they are being dosed slightly differently, both are in excellent control.
