My 13 yr old SW-CAH son has his blood drawn consistently between 6:30-7:00 am BEFORE meds (meaning he hasn’t had a dose since his pre-bedtime dose -- which by the way is his SMALLEST dose of the day -- around 9:30-10:00pm. As someone else posted, I believe what is most important is to do the draw at the same time each time (or as close as possible). I think it is a good idea to do it w/o any meds, so that you get a truer reading, but that opinion varies. We also do our draw about 2 weeks prior to our endo visit and have it sent to Esoterix. Also, because I like to keep very close tabs on the results, I go to my local hospital and get a copy of the result each and every time for my records and I bring it with me to the endo in case he hasn’t received it by fax from the hospital yet. Furthermore, we do 24 hr testing in combination with the blood draw. We actually put much more emphasis on the urine testing than the blood anyway. Keep in mind that the blood draw is a reading for the exact moment that the blood is drawn, where the urine is a result over a 24 hr period. Hope this helps!
