Wayne GoodwinI have had blood test done for all 51+ years of my life, and I never heard anything like any of you are doing. You make everything sound so complicated, and I don’t think it is, but then I am so used to having my blood drawn every 3 months, it doesn’t matter.
When I was a child, it took weeks to get results, and changes were made the same way, slowly. I never have heard of getting up at 5:30 a.m. to give some one a pill. I take my 20 mg. in the morning when I get up, which may be 8 or 9 a.m. Then I take another 10 in the afternoon when my body feels it needs it and tells me. Some times it doesn’t and I don’t take a second dose. I will check with my mother on what and if any schedule when I was young that I might have been on and don’t remember. I do remember that I got shots of cortisone in my butt for the first five years. OUCH!
Today, my doctor tells me to fast for 14 hours before the draw. I take my medications just like normal, otherwise I might show a low level?? Wouldn’t you think??? Any way, I have only water to drink - no coffee, tea, flavored water, pop, etc. My "step-daughter" who does my blood draws says that is how it should be done, and I hope she knows what she is doing as that is what she went to school for.
