My daughter is 6 and we were going through the same thing with her.  First we got her the MedicAlert sports band and that was cool for awhile. But now she has decided she didn’t want that she wanted something prettier so I looked on the MedicAlert website and saw they had really cool (girly) beaded bracelets of many different colors.  We got one of those and she loves it.  For me I think it is worth it to pay the $20 a year to maintain her MedicAlert record and now she found a bracelet she really loves.  I hope this helps.
