our ems also does not carry solu cortef on board. however, i am a RN and worked in the er. what SHOULD happen in such a situation is that the ems worker has a direct line to an er. they would call it , speak with an MD who would advise them to either:1. give the solu cortef that was in the kit with the child or 2. give an appropriate dose of solumedrol. the ems is then "covered" liablility wise b/c is was an MD order.
