My nephew had his arm set on Monday and casted as well. This included sitting for 15 minutes with his fingers in a thing hanging from the ceiling and a 7 lb. weight on his upper arm to stretch the area before they set it (basically rebreaking the arm back into place). After talking to my sister-in-law about the trip to the hospital on Father’s Day, my nephew was in shock by the time they reached the hospital. On Monday, the Orthopedic Doc told her that if they are busy in the ER they always wait to set and cast them in the next couple of days which they did with my nephew (with no pain medication in the office I might add!). My husband and I discussed this regarding our situation. We both decided that we would DEMAND that the procedure be finished in the next few hours in the hospital (I’m also assuming that our Endo will back this up as well). Way too much stress for a CAH child. I’ll call the Endo’s office tomorrow and quiz them on this just to confirm everything. Thanks for your input on this matter!!!Jamie K. in OH
