CassyYes, we call it Amish country as well. A lot of our businesses (grocery, banks, farm stores) are putting in hitching posts and buckets of water and hay. We have several different groups of them here--several orders of Amish, Mennonites, Dunkers aand they all have different rules. Some drive, some wear only black, etc.
however, around here they are not all as "pure" as the average person says they are. When I was in college, i worked at a convenience store and the majority of our cigarrete and liquor sales were to young Amish people (18-25). They would come in on a Saturday night and buy hundreds of dollars worth and then load it all in their buggies to go to a party. One night, they invited me to come after work and I did. They can really throw a party!! Also, one night they took me on a a buggy ride and I had a friend take a picture because I thought it would be a great story someday!!
Anyway, it is neat to have another culture so close by even though getting behind them is sometimes frustrating.
