SW CAH OVER 70

Hey Aimee,

My hypothyroid was dx’d after my first child. I was so tired I thought I was pregnant again (I wasn’t then but soon after!). This was in ’93. My endo thought it was from the pregnancy but I would recover! Ha! He tried to wean me off but no go. I believe it is just plain old run of the mill hypothyroidism. I take 0.112mg of Synthroid daily.

I did have surgery for an "enlarged clitoris". I can still here my mother (God Rest Her Soul) telling me that and then saying "I think I said that right." What it involved, I don’t know and I’m not sure I can find out. I still go to the same hospital so maybe.

I had four c-sections and I am DONE!! Since the last two (ages 3 and 4) were surprises (I know - how can I be surprised twice!) and hubby forgot to go to the doctor like he said he would, I had a tubal when number 4 was delivered. The first c-section was because of pre-eclampsia and adrenal crisis combined - not recommended. The second was because I thought the first c-section was easy (it is if you only have 1 child). Mistake. For the 3rd, I tried to go VBAC but Erin was not budging (she still is very stubborn). I was hospitalized for the induction and after 3 days of nothing happening and Christmas approaching, I went for c-section 3. The fourth was c-section because I had already had 3 c-sections and we (more like the OB) wasn’t sure everything would hold together!

I don’t consider myself intersexed. I am female. I don’t think the label fits at all. I am a bit of a tomboy though. Before the internet, I just contributed that to having 5 brothers.

I haven’t had to go to Fosomax yet. My last dexascan showed a 16 percent gain in my spine and no change in my hip. this is with calcium, vitamin D and sporadic exercise.

I do wish the osteoporois was given a heads up earlier. If there are other things we should be watching for, I would like to know. It won’t really change anything - I’ll still have to take my meds but I don’t want to be blindsided!

I’m surprised my kids let me type this long but the party is over. They found me!

I always enjoy your post Aimee!

Hang in there!
