I post messages to another board for parents of special needs kids of all kinds (mine have other problems/delays besides CAH) and a parent posted a message regarding her daughter who was born with ambiguous genitalia. I asked if it was CAH and she said that they didn’t really know what caused it but they had tested her for "everything under the sun". The doctors have led her (the mom) to believe that is was because her gestational diabetes was out of control during the last month of her pregnancy. I have never heard of this and ask her to make sure that CAH was tested for and ruled out. Has anyone else heard of other causes for ambiguous genitalia like diabetes??
