Carrie H.Yes to your answer. You know I never even put 2 and 2 together but, my husband is Hispanic. Maybe there is something to being of this decent!
It is treatable now with the help of Plaquenal (short version) and prednisone for the swelling. My husband got diagnosed about 5 years ago (noncah) and it seems that it is getting more common in men ( used to be only women got this). Also they think maybe it maybe inherited down through the womens side.
As for playing with trucks and such. Me? Major tomboy growing up. Am I a carrier? (no idea) Don’t think so. But, who knows (don’t know who made my daughter a carrier), husband now, is not my daughters father, her dad is from Yugoslavia. But she was also a major tomboy too. Also very feminine side.
I personally do not know that much about cah and other side effects from the adrenal gland. My grandson is only 8 months. But I do know that my daughter has always been my sickly girl. Adenoids removed when little, lots of ear tubes and appendix out at 16, mono, meningitis, and major yeast, blatter infections, the list goes on. So, with everything that you have and what I have seen with my daughter, the adrenal gland seems to play a major role in health. Maybe it has to do with effecting the electrolytes, which to me maybe that is the key to it all. Any time they get effected, what happens to the body. The immune system goes down and your body has to work so much harder to stay healthy.
Well, will learn much more as Kadin gets older. Not sure how much different boys are effected compared to girls. Being girls have all the internal stuff.
Aimee, you take good care of yourself and keep up that sense of humor :). We all need more of the good stuff, no matter where it comes from.
