Hi Julia - Thank you so much for your response. You are most likely correct in why I haven’t received many responses. I can only hope that I put a "bug" in their ears and many are taking action regarding this and just not posting until they have set up more definite action. I can tell you that my own attempts in my very, very small town have also been fruitless. Until this other Mom came in to the picture, I was in the same boat as everyone else. She is extraordinarily aggressive and assertive - you know what they say, "the squeaky wheel gets the grease"! We  think that we have found a ally (finally) by speaking directly to the Director of EMT Telephone Service in our state. I urge you and anyone else reading this to see if he tells you the same thing that we have been told - that your local ambulance service (and possibly a few surrounding ones) can INDEED red-flag a child by address AND NAME, which is what we were fighting for. I know you feel that you can be close by your child right now Julia, but I am telling you right now that as the Mom of a non-CAH 17 year old high school senior and my SW-CAH 13 yr old son - the time comes when you have to let them go and live. You are not always going to be there. I urge you and all others reading this post to work with your ambulance service and your state directors so that when the time comes to let your kids out, the service will be in place AND the most positive thing about this would be if we could ALL work to push this type of protocol plan, imagine the sigh of relief we would all have when we send them off to college and they become working adults in whatever community’s they decide to settle in. Imagine knowing that your child could live anywhere and just sign up with their local ambulance/911 services in that area and know that whomever, wherever a 911 call comes in with their NAME red-flagged, just knowing that the proper and IMMEDIATE action would take place! Now isn’t that we all want for our children? Accidents, illnesses and adrenal crisis’ happen beyond our control - getting involved with the 911 system and demanding more of them for our children - well that is proving to me lately that perhaps we have more control in certain areas then we ever thought!!! Thank you again Julia -- I am so happy that you posted. If you ever decide to try again in your community and I can guide you at all -- please let me know. Hope your summer goes well - it sure is hot here in New England, huh? Keep cool - take care!
