Both myself and my husband’s brother have type 1 diabetes. Each of us were ’late bloomers’, I being diagnosed at 17 and my brother in law at 21. Both sides of our family have a history of autoimmune diseases (lupus, thyroid, diabetes, and one suspect MS) and I’ve often wondered myself if there is some kind of connection. I’ve also wondered if being a carrier for CAH for some reason delayed the development of diabetes in my brother in law and I.
