I have a daughter with SWCAH (age 8). I took dex with my last pregnancy from week 7-week 18ish. Turned out I was carrying a girl but testing showed her to not have CAH-but she is a carrier. Side effects for me was severe insomnia- I could not sleep for longer than 3 hours at a stretch, quick weight gain, stomach upset and increase in acne. All of this went away after stopping the dex. There have been no effects on my daughter as far as we can tell but she is only 5 months old. My understanding is that it is not a guarantee to prevent any viralization-but it is suppose to limit the severity.
