My update so far. At our block party last night I buttonholed BOTH the fire chief and my alderman. (The alderman is also my state senator’s nephew -- he promised his help, if it comes to that.) The fire chief was very polite and called his own phone to leave a message to call me back to talk to me to arrange a meeting. Everyone is very political, but I do think we’re making progress.

Yesterday: talked to the local Children’s Hospital (where Molly goes for treatment) and got in touch with VERY nice people who are willing to help be advocates. They are finding the right people (the ones who deal with emergency responders) and getting things organized along those lines.

Now it’s wait and see, but things are in progress.
