Hi everyone! What I tell most people and anyone who ask is that Mitzi has Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia and if they ask MORE I explain the best I can in simple terms. It is something she was born with and I am not ashamed of it or afraid what the GQ public thinks about it. Call it a disease/condition/defect/ or anything YOU as an individual feels comfortable with. Most of all make sure you explain the seriousness of this disorder so others can understand. Especially to her her school and family and whomever she /he spends large amounts of time with. I hide nothing about my Granddaughters health as I feel there is NO reason too. Is there ANY shame in being ill/or needing meds to live. I don’t think so...... as far as her being virilized or the surgeries I stop at saying some female problems. NOT because I am ashamed ..because It is no ones business. I would not tell them about any female surgery I have had.  Find a term that you are comfortable with and use it openly and honestly in front of her/him so she/he will not be shocked or surprised someday to hear a relative or friend use it and you are explaining there health to them in a term they have NEVER heard of. Who cares what it is called as long as you and your child are in  tune with what is going on. Just for the sake of your child and CAH .......PLEASE do not refer to your child as being INTERSEXED! This is the word that will start the cannons blaring and the eyebrows raising. This is the terminology that we are TRYING to get the medical field and Drs. to STOP using on our children.

Sincerely

Cherry Lane
