Passing of Hunter Kelly
Aug. 5th, 2005   6:48pm

I hesitated to post this here, but I think if anyone can understand the grief this family is going through, it would be us -not that anyone else couldn’t understand, just that it hits home to us regarding the genetic issue.  Jim Kelly, the former Buffalo Bills quaterback’s son, Hunter, passed away this morning from a genetic disorder called Krabbes disease.  I have included a website to one of the news stations from Buffalo & you can see video if you like of his life.  I am originaly from Western NY, living there at the time Hunter was born, and so I have followed his story over the years -never knowing I myself would have two darling boys born with a genetic illness! I can’t say enough for what Jim & his wife, Jill have done for Krabbe & getting it on NY’s newborn screening!! Had my husband & I still lived in NY when our first son, Danny, was born, I’m fairly certain we would have lost him (CAH was not on NY’s newborn screening until 5 months after he was born).  Please pray for the Kelly family!!

On a side note, our youngest, Luke, had a "crisis" tis morning (hypoglycemic) and although it was very scary & serious, hearing the news about Hunter puts things in perspective for me.  I was playing "woe is us" and asking why my children have to have CAH -but if you see how wonderful life is -and it truly is what we make it -the Kelly family did all they could each day to make their son’s short time here on earth a wonderful life -and thats what we need to do!

Thanks for letting me "cry" here :)
