As Cindy states, everyone is different but paed endos prefer to use hydrocortisone as it is cortisol. Pred works differently and is much longer lasting and has a stronger potency.  In a growing teenager it must be used with great care, as it can affect growth and weight. Your daughter may need smaller more frequent doses of hydrocortisone, or a combination of pred and hydrocortisone. I have read on this board that some have had extreme mood swings on pred, yet as Cindy says some do well.  I am presuming her husband has no weight problems.  Good luck.
