My son had one ear infection and they wanted tubes right away in which i said ok. well, now he ahs had 3 ear infectiosn since having the tubes put in. But, all kids are different and my cousin had tubes in and never had a ear infection again so I think that it is just the child if it will work or not. I wish you luck
