re: Tubes in Ears

Amy,

Our now 3 year 2 mo old SWCAH daughter had ear infections starting about 9 months old that once you got rid of one you had about two weeks of time off from giving antibiotics then she would get another one.  I often thought that since the steroids leave our kids more open to infection that if she was already inclined to have them, this upped the frequency.  We didn’t want to have tubes put in even though several friends with children said it was a blessing to them.  We waited it out until she slowed down to seasonal ear infections last year and now only has had one this year.  So some say it is a great idea, and it probably is for them and maybe you, but we didn’t have them put in and it had worked out for us.  The only thing I worried about was her taking so many antibiotics that she would become immune to their effects later.

Oh, and another hard part about the ear infections is that when she would get them her temp would go up so double dosing etc.

Take care,

RebeccaM
