DianaI am starting this thread to discuss what information we need to give the school and the need for an emergency medical kit to be kept at school and accessible by a designated person . Preschool right up to and including college students. This would be just as important in a work setting as well as school.
Unfortunately we live in a time where we must be prepared for any event. In our high school last spring there was a threat and the school was locked down,
NO ONE WAS ALLOWED IN OR OUT FOR SEVERAL HOURS.
Everything turned out OK and the threat did not turn into a disaster. I am now realizing how important it is for all of us to be prepared in case of this type of situation.
What if this turned into a real disaster and the lockdown was for several days???
I will be putting my daughter into preschool this fall. I am going to make sure the school has a 3 day supply of medication and injection supplies. I will make sure the instructors and workers understand her dosing and what to do in an emergency.
I have a letter to give the school found at www.cw.bc.ca/endodiab
SCHOOL LETTER FOR THE CORTISOL-DEPENDENT STUDENT
There is a section at the bottom to fill in for DISASTER READINESS I will modify this letter and individulize it for my daughter.
HOPEFULLY NONE OF US OR OUR CHILDREN WILL EVER BE IN THIS SITUATION BUT LETS BE PREPARED!!!
