I have Classical Simple Virlizing 11 Hydroxylase Deficiency CAH and I was on prednisone for 31 years. I like that the doctors have much more knowledge know and i think that different drugs w/ the different strengths benefit at different times but I LOVE THAT three years ago I stumbled on to an Endo that before I asked suggested the hydrocortisone. I’ve taken it for three years and it’s great! I believe that the cortef is a brand name and while I was in the hospital for something else they would send up cortef or hydro -- I guess what ever one they grabed first : )  I ’ve always had great blood work also ...  I took extra hydro for cancer treatments (non CAH) too!

the hydro 20mg $11 something for qty of 38 and  I take 25mg/day. 10mg around 7 am ish,  5mg around 4 ish, and 10mg around 11:30 or David Letterman ish. The stuff snaps in half and then again by finger although the pill cutter is always fun. When I was a kid I would break the pred in half with my teeth.  

All hail the hydro! good stuff : )  at least for me. Me and the Endo have moved to Thyroid issues these days. The adrenal gland and the hyro are holding down the fort at the other end of the endocrine system.
