aimeePeople mention that they need a good Endo or doctor and I was wondering what that means to others?
I don’t think that someone goes to school for eight years so patients can think they are awful : )
What makes someone good or bad? or is it really about them or having a chronic condition that can’t be fixed but only monitored.
A bad doctor example would be for me someone that wasn’t keeping good records consistently or was quick to make a diagnoses-- not looking for the under lying cause and a good doctor is someone that is willing to try something different and think outside of the box. A great doctor for me is someone that I can express emotion around and they know that’s all it is. A great doctor for me is someone that will get in my face (be engaging) and also express some sort of emotion (professional enthusiasm/ interest). A great doctor for me is one that will tell me that they don’t have the answer for something or will tell you that they or yes someone else was wrong. A great doctor for me lets me finish my sentences and doesn’t assume that they have all the right answers. A great doctor looks you in the eye and is truthful even if it isn’t what you want to hear. A great doctor waits ..wants ... and gives you space to ask questions during the course of the visit. A great doctor isn’t perfect.
Did anyone ever wonder what would posses someone to go into the field of Endocrinology? They must be some reason and I’ve read that the field is small and getting smaller. Is it my imagination or are Endos for the most part quiet individuals?
Isn’t it amazing how far the INFO about CAH has come in the last 55 years?
