WOW. That sounds pretty good to me. I am from United States. We check our daughter that has SWCAH, 4 to 5 months also. With every check up we check her bloodwork. This is only one blood draw, done once in the morning. I don’t like this way because personally I have read someone referring it to only having a "snap shot" of what her levels really are because it is only one example from the entire day. I would like to know what this test is called that you use the filter paper. Do they have a name for it? And do you know where it is tested? I believe our daughter’s blood work is tested in California. That is why it takes two weeks for us to receive results. Your ways sounds so much more acurrate. We check her OHP levels, Renin levels, and Androgen levels. Once a year we check her testosterone levels. We have her bone age done every other year. We have her weight and height checked at every visit, along with her eyes. He also looks at her skin to see if it is clear and not oily along with her hair. I check her genitals myself to make sure there is no significant changes such as pubic hair ect. Then I report to her endocrinologist if there is. I can do this exam just as easily as he can but without having her feel picked at by doctors. If we find a change in her OHP levels or the other items checked for the blood work, then he decides if we need to change her medication. I find it is truly a "trade" that must be learned with each patient. CAH patients are like snowflakes, no two totally alike. Similar, but not exactly alike because each can metabolize their meds. at a different rate. And other things. We can have higher renin levels and he will still decide since the rest of the levels look fine to leave her meds. dosage where it is. Then the next time something will elavate in her levels then he decides to tweak her medication here or there. It is an amazing treatment if you ask me. My only thing I see that I think you definately should have is a bone age done. I think this is thus far a very important tool in keeping ahead of the game. I was told bone age is the best test to truly see if the treatment is truly working for the patient. Thanks for sharing that with us. And please let me know what the name of the test is with that paper, and where it is sent.Laura
