HopeOur Endo always ’takes a peek’ into our son’s diaper at his routine visits. It’s always a quick thing, no real examination or touching, but it’s beginning to make me uncomfortable. I don’t want to subject my son to having someone look down his pants if it’s n0t really necessary. I have refused when other doctors have asked to take a look, i.e., a geneticist and floor pediatrician at the hospital, but I’ve never refused to allow his Endo to look. My husband and I change his diapers every day; we would know if he were developing pubic hair or other changes.
I guess my question is, for those of you that have boys, is this part of their routine check ups? How can I best approach the Doc about discontinuing this practice? Is there some medical reason that I should try to overcome my discomfort and allow it to continue?
Thanks to anyone who can offer some input.
