re: Is this true

My daughter with SWCAH saw Dr. New in 2000 due to unexplained vaginal bleeding without any signs of puberty.  Dr. New admitted my dtr to the Cornell-Weil Medical Center as it was called then, and enrolled her in in a research grant to cover the cost of the stay.  I don’t remember the total, but it was approximately $7,000 for 3 days and tests.  There was no out-of-pocket expense (other than parking and meals-which is enough) because what our insurance didn’t cover was covered by the grant.  I never thought about whether this was right or wrong.  And as it turned out, we did not have an answer for the vaginal bleeding from that stay.  Probably a year later a Urologist from Schneider Children’s hospital determined that my daughter had a polyp on the vaginal wall that was bleeding from being irritated (she was an active 3 yr old), so it was removed and cauterized.  We have not needed to go back to Dr. New, but I imagine there are many cases such as my daughter’s, all in the name of research and dedication to CAH.  Very interesting article and responses.
