been a while, checking in, and Dr. New!

Hi everyone,

It’s been a while since I’ve posted and I wanted to check in.  It’s a good thing that it’s been a while since Chelsea has had few problems associated with her CAH.  We did have the usual "new Coach" sticky problems....having to share her story with yet another person, and I mostly just referred them here or to the CARES site for info as they chose to inform themselves.  Does that ever get any easier?

We have our first appointment with Dr. New in NYC on November 15th! YEAH! Finally I feel like Chelsea will be assessed by someone who knows what they are doing.  I am concerned about the depot-lupron and it’s effectiveness...Chelsea seems to have been growing quite a bit lately, and that’s not supposed to be happening.  I get tired of the comments "wow, Chelsea is really shooting up like a weed" as I cringe knowing this is NOT a good thing, when for most children it is normal.  She turns 10 in 12 days, and is almost 5’, but is at stage 3 puberty.  He growth plates are virtually closed.  With every centimeter she grows they shut more.  Ah well, 5’ isn’t the end of the world.

Does anyone else find themselves having more trouble with the afternoon Cortef dose as your child gets older and more active?  We are really struggling to remember this dose, even though I carry a palm pilot that sounds an alarm when the pill is due....half the time that it goes off, Chelsea is in a pool swimming and by the time her practice is over, I have forgotten about the pill. Any suggestions?

God Bless you all, and Danny, thanks so much for this board and all your hard work,
