jennyAfter considering this for along time and things being said at the Conference I have decided to let Riley Children’s hospital do a study of the 3 meds (dex, pred. and cortef) on Cody who just turned 9 with SWCAH.
He will take dex for 6 wks then an over night stay to do labs, he will then take pred. for 6 wks over night stay and then the cortef for 6 wks with an over night stay. He has been on cortef since birth! This was a hard decision to make. It will be maybe 1 dose vs. 4 pills a day maybe if everything checks out ok.
I know nothing about the dex. or pred. except what I have read or listened to what others have said.
We are scheduled for the visit tomorrow at 2:15. I’m not sure which 1 they will start with. Like I said it was a very long thought out decision and I’m still not sure it is right. But I can always stop at anytime. Cody was present at the meeting and wanted to do this. Even though he is only 9 yrs old he is well aware of everything going on.
Nothing seems to be uniform with CAH treatment. One endo will give dex, one will give cortef??? I’m hoping something good will come of this for everyone.
Anyone have any commets on this??????? Also the endo is telling me this is the 1st study to do this on children. There are other patients that have already started this but have not met them yet.
