I have done both with our SWCAH daughter. Personally, homeschooling wasn’t a good option for us. It was a very difficult year for us. Once I put her in public school, after much distress, I realized just how much she was missing.  I just could not provide her with the many things that occur in a classroom setting. We even had a wonderful homeschool association that I was involved with. We have a school nurse 2 1/2 days a week but I have several people who have volunteered to give a shot if needed.  I have talked with her teachers and principal and feel very comfortable should an emergency arise.  I left an emergency kit at the school that the staff knows about. It contains my emergency letter, solu-cortef, alcohol pad, latex gloves, bandaid, syringe and needle, and a dose of her corfef and florinef just in case we ever forget to administer meds in the morning rush.  I guess I should tell you that in the two years  she has been in public school she has been a pretty healthy little girl.  Just had a couple of colds, one ear infection (due to swimming), and one sore throat. Some with fevers of 102 but they always responded to motrin or tylenol. I have given 2 stress doses in 2 years due to lethargy with illness and one episode of vomiting during the summer. I should also mention that we are very lucky to still have her with us since she came very close to death twice when she was just 6 weeks old. I mention this to let you know that I’m a very protective parent and so far both of us have adjusted just fine to public school life. It really is a personal decision. You have to find out what works best for you and know that if it’s not working you still have other options. Good luck, I wish you and your family the best.
