Our boys are only 3 1/2 and 1 1/2, but both have SWCAH. They are both doing very well! Our 2nd son is in the lower percentile for height, but right on for weight and our endo is following this, but he’s doing fine. Our oldest son is right on for height & weight. Our boys take Cortef 3x a day and Florinef 1x a day. When our 1st son was diagnosed (from the newborn screening here in CO -after having lost 25% of his body weight & starting a crisis), I was devestated. It took me a good month to get over it & realize this was something serious, but yet, something that would be normal for us. When our 2nd son was born, I had of course hoped he wouldn’t have it, but, it was so routine to us... I know there may be issues down the road, but I also know that we will be able to deal with it. The adults with CAH and parents on here offer lots of good advice. It’s great to hear you’re getting good advice from you endocrinologist too -that’s 1/2 the "battle." We have a great one (endo)who will be leaving practice in our area & we will be getting another in January. I so hope she will be 1/2 as considerate, and knowledgeable as he has been. We were truly blessed to have him! One thing that sticks in my mind from our first meetin with him was him telling us to be share our son wasn’t the little boy looking out the window at all the other kids playing outside -his point was to let him get out there and be "normal." I often have to remind myself of this, but I’m doing the best I can with that. Beside the initial diagnosis & a few hypoglycemicincidences, we’ve had no major illnesses -just colds, a croup incident, and one flu bug. Best wishes to your son & your family!!!Darlene
