Dear Jess,

Yes, I take synthroid also and have no interest in taking anything else : ) I have borderline hashimoto’s thyroditis from what I gather a common thyroid disease where my immune system is attacking my thyroid. Isn’t that lovely? Silly confused immune system. The thyroid    "bounced" ? hyper/euthyroid/ hypo  and because of some Cat Scans that I needed- the iodine moved the thyroid into hypothyroid and it stuck but I still have signs of hyper. I’ve read that this is a disease and what you have would be a condition. Like that makes a diff to any of us! right?

The synthroid which for me really needed six weeks to start working at first made me lose way to much hair but that seems to of stopped is fine for me. Each person is different like CAH and even within CAH- patients take different drugs. But this thyroid stuff? trip me out ...Ok ... Ok it’s wacked and these groups go one about other drugs and diss synthroid. I gather it has something to do with the different drug delivery systems. I don’t really know about this stuff but it seems that Armour sp? and other drugs have T4 and T3 wich these people feel is the way to go BUT I’ve read that synthroid has T4 but also draws the need for T3 as the body needs it (this was from a study in the 1970’s ).  I’ve probly gotten the terms wrong or heck maybe even the whole concept but I’m comfortable with the synthroid because of the endo that I have. If he though anything else was better he would give it to me. The man doesn’t like prednisone( CAH) so that means a lot to me. What he said about my surgeries was perfect So yep synthroid "the gold standard" is for me But for fun I like to look at some of the thyroid sites .... this might be interesting http://www.thyroid.com/thyroid-news04-082004.html
