Carol M.Hi Jen,
I agree with Misty....your daughter sounds very ill and in need of immediate medical attention! Her 17-ohp newborn screening numbers of 106 and 169 (likely in units "ng/mls") are consistent with salt-wasting CAH. Irregular beating of the heart is also a sign of impending adrenal crisis, and is a result of the build-up of potassium in the blood---something that can also happen with CAH.
Please do give Kelly Leight at CARES a call, to see if she can get you in to a pediatric endocrinologist immediately. (CARES is a support organization for parents and people with CAH.) Her toll free number is (866) 227-3737. However, being that is is the weekend and many doctors will be off until Monday, I might also consider showing up at the hospital ER and insisting on seeing the peds endo on call. Your daughter does sound like she is in trouble--it is unbelievable that she has presented with such alarming symptoms of salt wasting CAH and has yet to be treated for it!!
Good luck, and please keep us posted!
