KerryMy husband & I had genetic testing done. We were basically told we needed to do it, and it was so interesting to find out the results (there are many different mutations with this gene if you didn’t know). Our drs basically told us we needed to have it done, esp if we are thinking of having any other kids so that we are better prepared and informed since when you’re pregant with a girl you need to be on steroids to ensure proper development. Insurance covered all of our tests, but you may want to check into it first.
Our son was born two months early, so I do understand what it’s like to live in the NICU forever. I also am concerned about his dosages, as I don’t get the impression that our endocrinologists have dealt with a lot of preemies. In fact, they actually told us after he was released from the NICU that they didn’t know what a renin level should be for a 5-lb baby.
