re: Dex and non affected babies

I’m not sure they know for sure.  They think it is safe, but it is really a fairly new treatment.  I am currently on dex.  I’ve been on it for about 10 wks.  I have an amnio Monday.  I will be 15 weeks then.  My doctor strongly recommended the dex treatment, and I wanted to do everything I could for an affected daughter.  However it has not been an easy drug to be on.  It has caused acne on my chest and back, but thank goodness not too bad on my face.  It has also caused weight gain.  I have gained 15 lbs already, and edema-swelling.  My ankles are huge by the end of the day and its not from the pregnancy it is from the dex.  I also have had to watch my sugar because it can cause you to become insulin resistent.  Some have posted that they had no complications from the dex, but I am definitly ready to get off.  However, it is worth all this to keep a daughter from having surgery, but I’m praying for a healthy baby this go around.

Thanks,

Carrie
