re: new mom with questions about doses

Dear Erin,

I am not sure if it helps, but here is my experience.

My baby is in the same conditions. She took high doses since diagnosed unitl four months old. She gains weight very quickly. Her face is so much rounded (moon face) , some hair appear at her face and legs,  and she sweated a lot. During this time, her doses are always above 7.5mg  Hydrocortison/day and 0.075mg Florinef/day.

Fortunately, I met an Autralian doctor who visited the local hospital . He suggests to reduce the dose to 05mg Hydrocortisone/day and 0.05mg Florinef/day. Everything turn to normal righ then.

I hope that the above is a little bit helpful

My thought with you.

SheWhat are signs of oversuppression in an infant? My daughter is very fussy for long periods, doesn’t sleep much, has gained weight very quickly, especially in her face, neck and groin, and has acne on her face. Will this change as her doses come down?

*What maintenance doses of cortef and florinef have you all used for infants? My endo says 2.5 mg 3xdaily for cortef. I know other endos say 1.25mg 3x for cortef. I would like to convince her to let us try the lower dose if my daughter’s next labs look okay. Any input?
